• Rudolph de Bruin

    DIRECTOR

    A lawyer by training, Rudolph practiced as an advocate at the Pretoria Bar from 1977 to 1989. Post 1989 he has concentrated on finding, acquiring and developing mineral exploration and mining projects in various African countries. He was a founding member of the Platmin group, where he  focused on building Platmin into a credible platinum producer and listing it on the Toronto Stock Exchange. After selling his Platmin interest in 2006, he also co-founded the Sephaku Group, where he initiated the acquisition of Sephaku’s flagship limestone and other projects. Rudolph was appointed  Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of the Company on 26 April 2013. Rudolph is one of the founding partners of Amed Funds.

  • Deon van der Mescht

    CEO

    Deon, a mining engineer, has over 35 years experience in the mining industry of which 25 years were in senior executive roles in predominantly listed companies. These include companies listed on the JSE, Nasdaq, NYSE, and TSX. During his tenure as Senior Executive of various companies Deon gained extensive experience in public equity raising, company restructuring and optimization, as well as management of large capital projects in South Africa, Australia and Zambia. He has also been involved in advisory roles for companies on organizational structure, business optimization and strategy.

  • Dr David Twist

    DIRECTOR

    David is a PhD geologist and business man with more than 30 years’ experience in mineral research and exploration. He has been involved in multi-commodity target generation, implementation and management of exploration programmes, feasibility studies, mining and deal-making spending his entire career in Africa.

    David was a founding a director of Platmin, Taung Gold, Sephaku Holdings and other companies. He is co-founder of African Minerals Exploration and Development SICAR, a private equity fund focused on brownfields exploration in Africa.

  • Luke Knight

    DIRECTOR

    Luke was a founding member of Platmin Limited and the COO of its SouthAfrican operating subsidiary. Luke joined African Minerals Exploration & Development SICAR (“AMED Funds”), in 2014 as a director responsible for portfolio monitoring of their African investments, including Central Copper. Luke brings a wealth of experience in the management of exploration and development projects in Africa. Luke completed modules in commercial law, business management, economics and accounting at the University of South Africa.

  • Japie Coetzee

    GEOLOGIST

    Japie is a geologist and holds a M.Sc degree from the University of Pretoria. He is a registered member of Sacnasp and has lectured at the Rand Afrikaans University in geology for a number of years. Japie has for the past approximately 30 years been actively involved in various exploration projects in South Africa and other Sub-Saharan projects acting as geologist and geological advisor. For the last approximately 15 years he concentrated on building his own projects. Japie joined African Nickel in February 2022.

  • Daniël Ellis

    CFO

    Daniël is a practising Professional Accountant in Cape Town, South Africa and has 24 years’ experience in the accounting industry. During the last nine years Daniël acted as accountant for a number of publicly listed companies, including AIM listed GoldStone Resources Ltd (GRL.L), ASX listed Vanadium Resources Ltd (ASX:VR8) and CFO of Arcadia Minerals Limited (ASX:AM7). Daniël holds B Acc and B Compt (Hons) degrees.

  • Heinrich Schultz

    LEGAL ADVISOR

    Heinrich is a lawyer by training and has 11 years’ experience in the mining industry working as a legal advisor for junior exploration companies in the nickel, platinum and copper industries. He has worked in a variety of jurisdictions, including South Africa, the United Kingdom, the British Virgin Islands, Mauritius and more recently, Australia. During 2021, he was actively involved in the listing of a copper company on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange. Unfortunately, the listing was abandoned due to unfavourable market conditions at the time. He is currently involved in the planning phase of a potential listing of a copper company on the Australian Stock Exchange.
